とうとうGSも抵抗を諦めたようだ。

“The settlement includes a cash payment of US$2.5 billion and a guarantee of a full recovery value of at least US$1.4 billion in assets that are traceable to the diverted proceeds from the three bond transactions,” it said in a statement today.

Goldman Sachs, at its cost, would also assist the government by appointing an asset recovery specialist to recover other related assets currently lying outside Malaysia.

でも　フルリカバリーって　もともと　それだけの価値があった筈の資産価値だったのなら、GSが保証すると言っても　本来の価値が回復されるだけのことで　GSから賠償として回収するということではない。

そういう目でタイトルを読むと　GSから賠償で受け取るのは　2.5billion 米ドル　の部分だけだ。

それを　2.5 + 1.4= 3.9  にして　見出しを書いているのは、前政権(マハティール政権)時にGSからの提示金額1.75billion よりも　ムヒディン新政権では　GSに更に厳しく交渉して　はるかに増額した3.9billion を勝ち取ったんだ　という印象操作だろう。

This settlement represents a significant increase compared to the earlier offer of US$1.75 billion made by Goldman Sachs to the previous administration in 2019.

ムヒディン政権としては　何が何でもマハティール前政権時代よりも良い実績を作り上げることが最優先になっている。
