自殺願望 ( マレーシアでの情況、若者とSNS孤立化、人種間相違 )

神奈川県座間市のアパートで男女9人の遺体が見つかった事件は、なんとも気味が悪い。

自殺願望の若い女性を SNSで探し出し、自分も一緒に死ぬからと誘って何人も殺し、警官が来たら「そこです」とクーラーボックスを指し示すなんて、江戸川乱歩の怪奇小説の世界そのものだ。

どう考えてもこの犯人は完全に精神に異常をきたしている。

日本の刑法では精神障害だと無罪になるケースもあるのだが、実際の判決としては多重人格障害による犯罪でも責任能力ありとされた大阪地裁での最近事例がある。

そう短絡的に「精神障害→心神喪失→無罪」になるはずなどない。

過去にもネットの「自殺サイト」などが社会問題化したが、最近はネットに代わり、ＳＮＳが自殺や犯罪誘引の温床になりつつある。

世の中、便利になればなったで、とんでもないことも出てくる。

マレーシアでは自殺はどうなっているのか、便利なウェブ検索を使って、ちょっと調べてみた。

色々な記事が出ていたので、そこから一部を抜粋してみた。 (下記英文は複数の記事からの抜粋だ。)

マレーシアの自殺者は比較的少ない。

年間平均約 2000人だ。

世界では 40秒毎に1人自殺しているが、それに比較するとマレーシアの自殺率は低い。

しかし若者の自殺者あるいは自殺願望者は増加している。

“Social media can lead to isolation, and teenagers tend to shut themselves off from the world.

その背景にソーシャルメディアの発達があり、この世界に入り込んでしまうと若者は孤立化してしまう。

“Youngsters are delving more into attempted suicide because they believe that is the only way for them to get out of their problem.

“Adolescents nowadays are unable handle rejection. This is because some of them have the perception that life is like the internet, and that they can get everything they wish at the click of a button.

クリックするだけで欲しい情報が入手できるということに慣れてしまい。自分自身で問題解決の方法を模索することが出来ない若者が増加している。

孤立化した若者は、他には選択肢がない、と短絡的に「自殺だけが問題解決手段だ」と思い込んでしまう。

なんだか、日本の情況と同じだ。

ただ、以下の記事はいかにもマレーシアらしい特徴だ、人種間で自殺者比率や自殺方法が異なるというのは。

This research found suicides of 164 male (65%) and 87 female (35%) victims. Their age ranged from 15 to 80 years. The age group from 21 to 30 had the highest total cases of suicide (83 of 251; 33.1%). Among ethnic groups highest rate of suicide was among Chinese with a total of 120 cases (120 of 251; 47.8%). As far as lone method of suicide is concerned, hangings accounted for the highest proportion of cases (108 of 251; 43%). Among ethnic groups, jumping from height was the commonest method used by Chinese (49 of 120; 41%), Malay (9 of 16; 56%), and others (15 of 28; 53.4%); whereas, hanging was the commonest method of committing suicide by Indians (49 of 87); Muslims showed the lowest cases of suicide (18 of 251; 7.2%). In poisoning group Indian was the highest ethnic group who used this method (20 of 37; 54.1%).

< 自殺者251例の調査事例 > : 2008年なのでちょっと古いが参考にはなる。

内訳; 華人系 120人、インド系 37人、マレー系 16人、その他(外国人、サバ/サラワク州民)28人

自殺割合は華人系が高く(48%)、マレー系が低い(7.2%) 。

自殺方法としては華人系 49% マレー系56% が飛び降り自殺で、インド系は毒物服用(54%)が多い。

なお全体数としては首吊りが 108例 (251例中) が最多。
